I think the author could have stretched out the relationship much more. While I found the book interesting, I thought that the progression of the plot was a bit weak. Her obsession stems from the fact that Mann can never truly admit why he suddenly broke things off with her. At first she is in denial, and then she resorts to tactics that are far more creepier than any stalker story I've ever heard. Mann is indeed getting married.to another woman. While the two are making plans that involve living together, and possibly even marriage, Carolina is shocked when it is revealed that Mr. Apparently, the feelings are mutual and the two consummate the relationship when Carolina turns 18.
